Pest Problems

If you are experiencing a pest issue, please submit a request using the link below. Facilities Management, along with our contracted licensed pest management professional, proudly work together to respond quickly to resolve problems.

ANTS: To help solve an issue with ants, please remember to take out trash regularly and keep any food items stored and sealed. Keeping a tidy living space will help resolve many issues. If there is an excessive number of ants, please submit a work order using the link below.

STINK BUGS: Stink bugs aren't known to bite humans or damage property, but care should be taken when handling, to avoid their release of an unpleasant odor. The bug can be safely removed with a tissue or by flushing them down the toilet. They can also be vacuumed and emptied into a plastic bag. If there is an excessive number of stink bugs, please submit a work order using the link below.

BED BUGS: Bed bugs are small, parasitic insects that feed on the blood of people and other warm-blooded animals. They tend to hide in crevices and seams, and they mostly bite at night. People get bed bugs when they travel or come into contact with others who have them. It is important to note that a case of the bed bugs has nothing to do with sanitation or hygiene. Anyone can get them. Although bed bugs are not usually considered dangerous, the bites can be very uncomfortable and some people may have an allergic reaction. It is usually best for you to continue living in your current assignment during the treatment process. This helps prevent spreading the bed bugs to other locations. If you suspect you have bed bugs, please submit a work order using the link below and contact Residence Life to make arrangements right away.

RODENTS: The bad news is that once you've seen one mouse, there are likely more. Rodents have a short gestation period, so they multiply quickly. Factors impacting presence include climate changes and conducive environment. Rodents migrate towards food, shelter and warmth. Please remember to take out trash regularly and keep any food items stored and sealed. Once inside a home, rodents will eat food and chew on property. Severe rodent infestations can even result in structural damage. Never handle rodents, since diseases can be spread to humans directly, through handling of rodents, through contact with rodent feces, urine, or saliva, or through rodent bites. If you suspect evidence of rodents in your home, please submit a work order using the link below.

STINGING INSECTS: Bees, hornets, and yellow jackets are among the various different types of stinging insects in our area. These will often build nests in trees, in doorways, and in windows. If you suspect an issue, submit a work order using the link below.

ROACHES: The most common types of roaches in our area are German roaches and American roaches. Roaches reproduce quickly, so you want to reach out quickly if you suspect activity. Roaches do not necessarily mean a dirty house; they enter homes for food, moisture, and shelter. Unfortunately, roaches or roach eggs can be carried in on shoes, on clothing, or in bags. If you suspect an issue, submit a work order using the link below.
