A Senior Salute

Psychology and Spanish Major Ana Jeanne Campion

Hailing from Northfield, Minn., Campion has pursued a double major in psychology and Spanish language.

鈥淚 wanted to go into helping people but am afraid of needles; psychology seems like a good way to help people while evading said needles,鈥 Campion explained. 鈥淚'd also studied Spanish since elementary school and it made sense to continue studying it in college!鈥

Following graduation, she will work for CityYear Miami before pursuing an advanced degree in psychology.

Finding it difficult to name just one person who inspired her while at Wittenberg, she gives special credit to Associate Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center Mike Mattison, Reference Librarian Ken Irwin, and Associate Professor of Psychology and Department Chair Stephanie Little for their guidance and inspiration.

Reflecting on her four years at Wittenberg, she recognizes how important it was to figure out early on where and how she studied best in order to optimize her chances for success.  鈥淭here is definitely a sense of satisfaction when it is midterms or finals and everyone else is frantically studying, but you have kept on top of things and can go to bed at a reasonable time.鈥

Her advice to future students: don't bring everything you own to college!

鈥淵ou don't need all your favorite books: pick two. You don't need your sled in the fall; get it at Thanksgiving. Lastly, find a group of people - through an organization or simply hanging out with folks - that you really connect with. If something feels off about the group you're with, keep looking for your Witt family. It took me almost all off freshman year to find mine, but I am so very glad that I did.鈥
