Wittenberg has announced that Noah Lamb, assistant vice president of administrative operations at Hodges University in Naples, Florida, will take over as the University controller beginning October 26.
"Noah brings a broad and impressive range of experience that will help advance our fiscal sustainability efforts and cross-divisional collaboration," said Vice President for Finance and Administration Rob Young. "I am confident that he will be both a catalyst and partner in moving our financial reporting operations, fiscal strategic planning, and systems integration and management forward."
With more than 12 years of higher education experience in the areas of finance, strategic planning, budgeting, and risk management, Lamb has been responsible for the efficient and effective operations of numerous administrative units including Finance, Auxiliary Operations, Human Resources, Veterans Services, Facilities/Campus Safety, Financial Aid, Internal Controls/Rick Management, Enrollment Management, Student Services, and Information Technology.
In his current position, Lamb is responsible for fostering and maintaining an effective budget liaison role with all financial offices and the Florida Department of Education, campus partners, and other related agencies. As AVP, Lamb increased infrastructure efficiency by implementing new software and automation in multiple administrative departments to reduce processing time by approximately 40 percent. He also developed various ad hoc database queries and dashboards to facilitate routine budget and financial processes, negotiated vendor contract renewals that provided additional investment of more than a million to support scholarships and enrollment initiatives, and led institutional structure changes to include a new federal financial aid classification and new annual calendar for all academic programs.
鈥淚 believe that my background and significant track record in business analysis, information technology enhancements, resource allocation, auxiliary operations, policy and procedure development, and strategic improvements in public- and private-nonprofit higher education makes me a good fit for Wittenberg,鈥 said Lamb, who also led emergency preparedness procedures to move all administrative staff to a remote infrastructure in preparation for hurricanes and prior to COVID-19.
Lamb earned his B.A. in 2012 and M.A. in Administrative Leadership Studies in 2018 from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He also earned a certificate in business management and administration from the College Business Management Institute at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. His previous employment includes working as an accountant in 2008 at Marshall University before being promoted to business manager and a senior budget analyst. Lamb transitioned from Marshall to Hodges in 2015 to serve as director of financial services and auxiliary operations before moving into his current position in 2017. Throughout his career at both universities, Lamb has served on various committees and focus groups, including the University Strategic Planning & Budget Committee and the President鈥檚 Executive Council.
"Everyone I have spoken with has mentioned the close-knit family of hard-working individuals that work at Wittenberg. For me, that's what excites me the most: being able to work with talented folks that want to make the institution a better place for all. I hope to bring my understanding and knowledge of system integrations, long-term budgeting and planning, and fiscal sustainability to the institution in order to take the University to the next level."
