The Global Education and Peace Network Presents Speaker at Shouvlin

Global Education Speaker Series Presents "Creative Global Solutions Through Social Enterprise in Korea and Japan"

Springfield, Ohio - The Global Education and Peace Network invites community members to learn about 鈥淐reative Global Solutions through Social Enterprise in Korea and Japan,鈥 presented by Sunny Jeong, Ph.D. at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 in Room 105 of the Joseph C. Shouvlin Center for Lifelong Learning, 737 N. Fountain Ave.

Jeong, an assistant professor of business and East Asian Studies at 六合彩网上投注app, will present her studies from Japan and Korea, which show how countries 鈥渕ake a sustainable and scalable social impact by blurring the traditional lines between for-profit enterprise, nonprofit enterprise and government.鈥 According to Jeong, 鈥淭he world has changed in fundamental ways over the last few years. An increasingly popular solution to global social problems involves social entrepreneurship, in which business and nonprofit leaders design, grow and lead mission-driven enterprises.鈥

The Global Education and Peace Network began city-led study circles in October 2001, after the September 11 tragedy. With a goal of building global awareness in Springfield and Clark County, in the past twelve years, the group has created 48,000 Global Education calendars and held 132 monthly programs educating about local and global cultures. Those who attend the presentation will receive a free 2013-2014 Global Education calendar featuring the series and other community events.
