New Arboretum, Dual Degree Program Announced, 2024 Distinguished Teacher

Wittenberg鈥檚 rolling hills, welcoming hollows, and its vast treasure trove of trees spanning more than 100 acres have always captured the hearts of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. Now, thanks to the efforts of Matthew Collier, award-winning professor of biology, and Dan McDermitt, director of facilities management, the campus鈥 collection of trees has achieved a new status 鈥 official Level 1 ArbNet Accreditation, which denotes the University as an official arboretum.

Commencement Celebrations, New Pathway for Nurses, Scholarship Opportunity for Alumni

Learning to adapt to change and finding creativity within that change will forever define Wittenberg鈥檚 Class of 2024, which celebrated its first in-person ceremony in beautiful Commencement Hollow. Together, the 281 members of the class proved to all that they could successfully navigate a world like none other amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and together they were honored during the University's 174th Commencement Exercises on May 11, 2024. Meg Frost 鈥94, director of product design at Apple Inc., delivered the keynote address.

WittClipse 2024, Honors Convocation, Lilly Fellows Named

As North America experienced a total solar eclipse on April 8, Wittenberg was positioned perfectly in the path of 100% totality. The campus community and prospective students marked the astronomical phenomenon with space-themed food, Blackout Poetry, pinhole and colander viewers, lawn games, a library exhibit about Neil Armstrong receiving an honorary degree from Wittenberg in 1969, and an eclipse-focused chapel service. Professor Emeritus of Physics Dan Fleisch installed an accurately scaled model of the solar system on campus and provided a telescope for viewing.

We are almost one month away from our annual Commit to Witt Day of Giving on March 13. Beginning at 12 a.m. ET, this 24-hour event offers a time for Tiger Nation to show its collective pride in Wittenberg with a gift of any size to the University. MLK Convocation, Healing Humanities, Investing In Young Writers

As we begin a new year, I also want to thank our alumni and friends who have continued to support us. I know Board Chair Bill Edwards and I had to share some challenging news as last year concluded. Despite the challenges, we are not sitting still. Our emphasis continues to be on preparing our students for success both personally and professionally through internship creation, corporate and non-profit partnerships, new program development, facility enhancements, and more. We will be sharing additional information, but for now, I ask that you continue to invest in us so that we can invest in those we serve 鈥 our students.
